Hands up, those of you who have French Protestant
ancestors. If those ancestors were from (primarily) the sixteenth
and seventeenth centuries, do I have good news for you! Now a
collection of seventeen volumes about Huguenots, their family
histories, biographies, and immigration details is available on
one easily-searched resource.
Immigrant Histories: Huguenot Settlers in North
America and Europe, 1600s-1900s is another fine compilation
of resources published by Broderbund in collaboration with Genealogical
Publishing Company. The CD contains information about approximately
19,000 individuals (that's a whole lot of Huguenots!), and includes
the following volumes:
- History of the Huguenot Emigration to America, by Charles
W. Baird
- Huguenot Emigration to Virginia and to the Settlement at Manakin-Town,
by Robert Alonzo Brock
- The Annals and Parish Register of St. Thomas and St. Denis Parish,
in South Carolina, from 1680 to 1884, by Robert F. Clute
- The French Blood in America, by Lucian J. Fosdick
- The Huguenots of Colonial South Carolina, by Arthur Henry
Hirsch
- The Huguenots or Early French in New Jersey, by Albert F.
Koehler
- Huguenot Pedigrees, by Charles Edmund Lart
- Family Names of Huguenot Refugees to America, by Mrs. James
M. Lawton
- The Huguenot Settlements in Ireland, by Grace Lawless Lee
- The Huguenots in France and America, by Hannah F. Lee
- History of New Paltz, New York, and Its Old Families, by
Ralph LeFevre
- Memoir Concerning the French Settlements and French Settlers
in the Colony of Rhode Island, by Elisha R. Potter
- List of French and Swiss Who Settled in Charleston, on the Santee,
and at the Orange Quarter in Carolina, by Daniel Ravenel
- The Trail of the Huguenots, by George Elmore Reaman
- The Huguenots: Their Settlements, Churches, and Industries in
England and Ireland, by Samuel Smiles
- Memorials of Huguenots in America, by Ammon Stapleton

Huguenot researchers will recognize the titles
of several important research resources in the list above.
The amount of information you'll find is staggering, and
some of it is sourced, providing researchers the opportunity
to verify the details. The type of information provided
is wide in range; everything from family histories and genealogies
to parish records, biographical sketches, histories of settlements,
pedigrees, Huguenots in various countries (U.S., Canada,
Ireland, France, and South Africa), immigration histories,
memorials, and more.
This CD contains the text from the volumes,
but doesn't contain images of the original volumes' pages.
It is searchable, and original introductions, tables of
contents, and indexes are included as well. I was very impressed
with the amount of information on this CD and highly recommend
it to all Huguenot researchers.
